Michael Block '79 |
| I just know Mike as a dedicated SFPD crime scene investigator and friend.
He was instrumental in starting up the forensic video unit for SFPD/CSI
and he knew all about the latest technology and gadgetry.
I will remember Mike as a friend, a professional, and someone that was counted on to do his job. Nowadays, there should be more people emulating those qualities. Jeff Woo

I knew Mike Block from Aptos Junior High. We were buddies for two years there (8th & 9th grades) and three more years at Wash, and stayed in touch after graduation, but gradually drifted apart. I did speak with him around the time of our 20-year class reunion. He was unable to attend because his daughter was performing in the Nutcracker that night. We had also spoken by phone as recently as the beginning of this year, when I was networking with him about a career change, but never managed to get together. I remember Mike as a fun, decent, disciplined guy. When wrestling season was approaching, he would diligently eat less, to "shrink his stomach," as he used to say, to get into the appropriate weight class. Mike would occasionally stop by my parents' house in the Richmond to say hi to my parents and always asked them to say hello to me from him. A couple years ago, when my mom had a little trouble with a boarder in her home, I suggested she give Mike a call. She did, and he was happy to pay her a visit and offer his advice. I was shocked and saddened when I heard the news of his death. My sympathies go out to his family. Joanna Lee
