Frequently-Asked Questions

What can I get from this system?
Fun. Online and real-life fun.
Online groups, picnics, parties, day trips, beach parties, yearbooks on CD, panoramic class pictures, private party pictures, free web space, listserves, web boards, almost too much to mention.

Is everything here for free?
Yes.
Everything is fast, Friendly, Fun, TOTALLY FREE and will always be.

How many people in the system?
Thousands. The number's always changing. We are continually growing at an amazing rate. You never know what old friend will stumble upon us and walk in the door tomorrow.

Who the heck are you guys?
Such language from an Eagle. :)
It's not many people. It's just little old me. I am Alfredo Jacobo Perez Gomez, class of 1980. I'm a software engineer and thanks to the SFUSD (Everett Middle School, and Washington) I got my hobbyist start with computers. Just for the heck of it, here is my personal page.

Why are you doing this?
To contribute something positive. To make up for all that candy I steal from little kids and for all those elderly widows I cheat out of their pensions. Besides - did you ever say to yourself, "This world sucks"? One day, so did I.

How did you start this whole thing?
By happy accident. In May of 1999, with time on my hands after finishing a software contract, I went to Washington with my digital camera and took a photo tour for myself. Just for grins, I put it up on the web. Other alumni now living all over the world started writing me. A light bulb went on, and I then created the online groups. Next thing you know...

If you don't take money, how do you fund this?
Out of pocket. This benefits you. The computers, PG&E & DSL connection I pay for by myself. The Web development and software engineering I do on my own. I am not beholden to anyone, so I can move very quickly and implement any cool idea at any time on a moment's notice. No one can scare me into shutting down any part of the site.

Have you heard of a reunion for my year?
Very likely. All reunion info I have is posted on this web site. Go to Class Years, select your year, and click on Reunion Info. If you want to organize a reunion, you can become the reunion contact for your class.

How can I find my old friends Bob and Carol?
Easily. Join the online group for your year and ask there about them. Ted or Alice might pipe up and tell you what they know.

Are you associated with the school?
No. I know many people at the school, but am not officially associated in any way.

You're not sending me the Alumniscope any more
I'm not the Alumniscope people. Please contact the school and they can look into it.

How can I get my transcripts / grades / etc.?
By asking the school system. Only the school system has those things. Here is the SFUSD web site.

Are there any parties, picnics, coffee klatches, dinner parties?
All the time. Simply join the online group for your year, and people will propose, say, a pizza party at Giorgio's or a beach party.

Can I organize a reunion here?
Yes. The Reunion page will tell you everything you need to know.

Can I get a yearbook, or a panoramic class picture, or...?
Quite possibly Everything I have is listed in the Goodies page.

Will you give me free web space to advertise my reunion, or host my class party pictures, or my class year web site?
Yes. Each year has its own web site here. Everything related to your class year can be hosted there. We have tons of stuff already, and always getting more. If you have stuff you want on your year's web site, write me at alfredo@dreamworld.org

What is an "online group"?
An online pizza party. And you have a seat at the table. You can talk to all your fellow classmates directly. This can be via email, live chat rooms, interactive web boards, or of course in person at a get-together.

What is a live chat?
A chat room. Other people who are online at the same time can talk via typing to you "party line" style. This leads, incredibly enough, to laughing uncontrollably for hours at the witty remarks flying back and forth. Or, sometimes, the room is very thoughtful in what they say. Either way, it's virtually always a very filling experience.

Will you notify me of a class reunion, or a yearbook on CD, or...etc?
Sure, but I have to have your email address to write you about it. If you don't want to join an online group, at least register so that you can hear of goodies coming down the pike.

Whatever happened to that teacher?
I only know of a few. Mr. Leach is still at Wash! He taught Psych, then Sex Ed, I believe he's back to Psych now. Mr. Chandler just has his 75th birthday. Mrs. Chandler is still involved with the school, as is Ms. Joseph. Ms. Beresford is still teaching at the school as well.

I am afraid I must report that Mr. Freethy passed away approximately 1987. Ms. Goldberg (my homeroom and sex ed teacher) unfortunately passed away at Stonestown (before its reconstruction), collapsing from a stroke. Also must mournfully mention that Coach McGrath passed away approximately in 2002, as has Coach Nielson. I have no news of Ms. Murillo, Ms. Heredia, Mr. Nelson (English), Mr. Mahler, Ms. Green, Mr. Harris, or many of the other teachers I would like to hear from (hint, hint).

This is kinda cool. How can I help?
Lend me some memorabilia. If you have class pictures, yearbooks, Eagle newspapers, semester play stuff, or the like, I will take good care of it while I scan it. I will return it promptly ASAP and give you lending credit on the web site. Write me at alfredo@dreamworld.org and let's talk about it.

Who is dreamworld?
My non-profit. I use it to give out free internet services to other non-profits who are doing good work. Feeding the hungry, cleaning up the environment, fighting oppression, etc. If you want to, feel free to check it out.
