Martha Galvin, '81

Martha and I were a strange pair of friends. We had no friends in common except for Don Carson. But Martha liked to hang out with me and I loved it. Secretly I looked up to her. She was so smart and level headed. Wow what a combination in High School. I'd pick her up at her home on Fulton and we'd drive around in my orange F150 or see a movie. She was stage manager for some SF Opera shows then too. I remember working as a stage hand for her one night for a private dinner show on the stage at the Opera house that was catered by the Cornelian Room. She was destined to be a BIG success story. I was shocked and saddened greatly when I heard of her death. I think it was 1986 when she died from injuries from a car accident in the Swiss Alps.

Yes, Martha was my dearest friend at Washington H.S. She helped me get through some very troubling times in my life. She is missed and will never be forgotten.

I didn't know Martha very well, but I remember her. It really goes to show just how fleeting life can be. I pray her life was full, she has been missed.
