Hello And Welcome To Felicity Central!

This is the place for information about Felicity, its world-wide mailing list, its chat room and the online Felicity community!

Therefore, bookmark this page!  It will come in handy later, trust me.

 We're Famous!

This mailing list was mentioned in the book Felicity and Friends!  Actually, we got more than just a mention - we got a whole chapter devoted to us!  We are an active, fun, and friendly place with many hundreds of Felicity fans.  Come and join us!

 Hi!

Welcome

This is the home page for the Felicity mailing list!  Yup, this is a page that is very much in its infancy, but we will see how it develops along witht the Felicity community on the net.  Welcome, and I'm very glad that you found us.

Felicity is debuted on the Warner Brothers network on September 29, 1998.  The early buzz on it was that it would  have a wonderful feeling about it, reminiscent of the seminal show My So-Called Life, but set in a college-age environment; yet it has turned out to have a feel all its own.

I hope you have a great time on the list.  If you love Felicity, you have found its online home.  Come and join us!

Sincerely,
Alfredo Jacobo Perez Gomez

Mailing List Functions

Mailing List Commands

All commands to the mailing list are sent through email, by you, to the robot which obeys those commands.  There are several commands which the robot knows how to obey - commands  to add you to the list,  to delete you from the list,  to pause the delivery of list mail to you, how to resume, and so on.

All commands are sent in the body of the email message.  If you put your command in the subject line, it will be ignored.

All you have to do is email the command to the robot.  I have pre-prepared some clickable emailing links below.  Just copy the appropriate text into the body of the email, hit send, and you're done!

Then you will want to ask the robot to stop  sending you email from the list, until you come back from vacation.  This is called "putting yourself on postpone mode".  Otherwise, your mailbox will continue to receive emails from the list, and it will eventually get very full and possibly cause serious problems for your internet service provider.

Common Problems

  • You did not send your command to the correct address.  A command is, for example, when you tell the robot to put your on digest mode.  You send all commands to robot@dreamworld.org.  Please check that this is the address to which you sent your command.  Please double-check.  Please triple-check, letter by letter if necessary.  This is a very common error.  If I had a dollar . . .

  •
  • You did not send your article  to the correct address.  An article is something you write for the whole list to see.  Like, "Hi everyone, I'm new to the list".  You send all articles  to felicity@dreamworld.org.  If I had a dollar . . .  : )

  •
  • You sent a command, but the robot said you were not subscribed to the list.  That's right.  You must be a member of the list before you can customize your subscription to the list.  Please join the list first, then afterwards, send the command to put yourself on digest mode, or whatever it was you originally wished to do.

  • The commands that you sent was formatted improperly:  it was misspelled, or was missing one word, or had too many spaces, or too few spaces.  You can always cut and paste the appropriate command from the text above onto the body of the command email you send to the robot, just to make sure everything has the correct syntax.

  •
  • You put the command in the subject line.  The robot will ignore that.  Please put the command in the body of the email.  The body is the part where you usually type your message.  You know, Hi Bob, how are the wife and kids?  Where you usually write that sort of thing - that's the body of the message.

Felicity Chat Room

Yes!  We have a chat room!  This is where you can have live, online group meetings with other Felicity lovers.  We have not really decided on a date and time, but we do have our own private IRC server just for us!  Keep an eye peeled in the mailing list for information about the weekly chats.
