On California Street between Montgomery and Kearny
See the tower of the Oakland/Bay Bridge in the white haze behind the
building?
|

Montgomery and Bush
That's "Tweezer Towers", a name given because of the building's shape by the celebrated and much-missed columnist the late Herb Caen, our Pulitzer-prize winning observer of San Francisco and the biggest lover of our fair city.

On the other side of that skyscraper hotel is Union Square, the shopping area.

We're getting away from downtown, and entering more of an inner city
area.

Union Square
The downtown shopping area. Lots of Neiman-Marcus, Nordstrom,
Macys type stores. See the salmon-colored skyscraper in the
center, way in the background? We're going directly across the street
from it in the next picture.

Sutter Between Kearny and Montgomery
A typical downtown street scene. We're across the street from
the salmon skyscraper, at whose bottom is the Galleria, a cute three-storey
open-air shopping mall topped with a gracious curved glass ceiling.
