Mission Street and 22nd Street
The view from the corner of mission as you look down 22nd. That's Twin Peaks on the horizon.

On 22nd street Near Mission
Mount Sutro and Sutro Tower as seen from the Eastern half of the city. Not really on Mission street, but I wanted to show you what you would see if you were walking down Mission and happened to look down 22nd street.

On Mission between 17th and 18th streets
What this picture cannot provide, about this particular part
of Mission street, is the smell. By this time of day, the faint
smell of sun-cooked decay is pretty detectable, unfortunately. The
area of 16th and Mission, and the surrounding blocks, I like to avoid
if possible. You walk around and you suspect something shady is happening
here and there, in some of the groupings and casual handshakes of people
passing each other on the street. Again, in my experience, trouble
is only there if you're looking for it. Otherwise, I have not been
bothered, or hassled in any way. Mainly, you will see in this piece
of Mission street, some office workers, tons of foot traffic going in &
out of the kinds of stores you see above, families towing children, singles
checking each other out, and the occasional shady conversation or shady
character. Now, just to show you what a difference a block makes,
in this very block (on the other side, on Valencia street) resides the
famous fine-dining VietNamese restaurant The Slanted Door, so famous it
was visited by President Clinton during his stays in SF. Also not
far from here, about two blocks, is my beloved crepe place Ti Couz (highly
recommended).
