Mission and Vision: Vision: Mission: The goal is to add to what everybody knows about emotional, social or phsyical problems, namley that living things are connected in some kind of balance. Whether a person is suffering from psoriasis, depression, shoplifting, alcoholism, cancer, or any other problem, chronic stress plays a part, over the generations, in how these things happen. Stress is a fact of life. It is present for most people some of the time and for some people most of the time. Bowen natural systems theory offers a way of organizing this information. The Syracuse Family Center is open to all people. One person may have a particular project and need a place to work on it and develop it. Another person may simply want to be part of a group to stay with discoveries and thinking in the field. Others may have a problem they want to understand better. Such participants may include individuals, families, schools, corporations, governments, and those whose job focus is on family life, such as therapists, anthropologists, physicians, and policy makers. Bringing together groups of people who would not otherwise have any way of meeting each other is a powerful tool of the Syracuse Family Center. We will provide a space for the groups to come together to find common ground. We will also provide a newsletter, workshops, a website, and a listserv.
