One out of ten people is gay. This means that at a school with over 600 students, most likely about sixty of them are gay. Presently, Oyster River High School is barely acknowledging this group, let alone supporting them. The Gay/Straight Alliance would be open to students and faculty of any sexual orientation who are interested in gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender issues.

General Goals:

· Encourage a friendly, tolerant atmosphere
· De-mystify homosexuality
· Raise awareness of gay issues
· Provide a safe place for gays and their straight allies to vent
