After having read my posts which support gay marriage and posts which support feminism, Annika wrote me privately to say she liked what I had said. Annika was still studying towards her sociology degree then, which I believe she has now attained. She said that many of the sociologists with whom she studied did not seem to grasp the "no race" point of view as clearly as I did, and with which she seemed to agree. (I'm doing this from memory, I'm sorry if I'm misrepresenting shades of meaning, Annika).
Anyways, she mentioned that she would be in San Francisco soon, and I enthusiastically suggested a little coffee together. I picked her up from the nearest BART (Bay Area-wide "bullet" train) station, and took her to the Zephyr Cafe in my High School neighborhood. I asked if she minded if I took a picture for this web page, but she declined as is her prerogative, which I respect.
We talked about many things, including some surprising discoveries by sociologists about how little of human nature is really innate. According to Annika, not even walking is an innate human thing; feral children don't necessarily walk. It also turned out that Annika had recently met Francis Park and the Haringtons during her trip to Washington DC.
After wide ranging-discussions about the list, philosophy, sociology,
and so on, I drove Annika back to the BART station so that she could
rejoin her friends across the bay.
