Dear Kent,

This "Feel Better Soon" get well card went up in about 36 hours from conception to completion, and I gave the frequent posters only a few hours to respond. I apologize profusely for putting up this page too soon for some people to get to me. Even so, when they heard that this was happening, all these people responded in a hurry, virtually everyone within 12 hours, some of them submitting their photos to be included in this little world-wide Kent Greene appreciation page. Just so you know. : )

Here are the latest new messages for Kent!

Kent- My mother always told me to look for kindred spirits in this world, and, in you, I've found one. You have something very special, and it saddens me to see it so darkened by the weatherings of life. Life's storms can leave anybody haggard and worn, but I believe that you will emerge form them still shining. Remember that someone in Tucson thinks you're neat. :):):):):)

Kent, you are by far the most astute contributor to the list. Your knowledge of film is admirable. Like, your posts are always a joy to read, even when I am ripping through hundreds of old posts! Hope all is well.

Evan!

Oh fab, I'm too late. I had like, 5 seconds near this machine yesterday, cause I'm babysitting this week and I didn't have time to write anything, and I really wanted to. Sorry.

Alfredo,

Hope I'm not late....

I do not know if you are beautiful.
I have not met you. Not exactly.
From behind the shadow-play screen
Your soul walks through the weft of time
And tells me. You are. Beautiful.
Between us is this conspiracy of trust.
I understand. I watch you gather my words
At your leisure. A gypsy smile.
A raised eyebrow. You guard
My privacies and smile at my ineptitudes.
Do you know what happens in distant places?
Aloneness is delicious. Sometimes.
Then you say: Hello.
My prism breaks into colors.

Kent - take one day at a time and remember that we all care for and love you. <big hug>

I hope this will help. It is one of my favorite [zen poems]:

"Ring the bells that still can ring.
Forget your perfect offering.
There is a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in."
- Leonard Cohen

Here is another, along the same line:
"Barn's burned down. Now I can see the moon."
- Masahide

May I suggest to Kent that he somehow learn, although it is a hard learning at first, to "take a step back" from his situation, and view it from a wider perspective. This is certainly not always easy to do, but when achieved, the light comes pouring in, and the burden drops to the ground. -

Dear Kent,

I'm sorry to hear that you have been feeling down of late. I always enjoyed your contributions to the list when I was still subscribed (especially our brief private conversation about adolescence from girls' perspectives versus boys' perspectives). And so I wanted to wish you well, and tell you that you have lots of friends out here in cyberspace who care about you! Gone from the list, but not completely out of it,
Your friend, Lark

Hey Kent!

You don't know much about me and I don't know much about you either, so I'm probably not the guy you expect to hear something from. But IMHO we are still a nice little online-community and and as such one, everybody should care a bit for everyone. So, don't look back, enjoy the day! Hope you'll feel better soon... -Ralf (RalleT@T-online.de)

dear kent,

When I first joined the MSCL list, I lurked for a short time. At that point, everyone was on the subject of grammar, and I posted my "happy grammar story." You wrote back to me, and 'welcomed' me to the list. That made me feel good. All of my life I have always been worried about what people thought of me. Throughout elementary school, even high school, I was never really a part of a circle of friends. (people thought I was weird cause I began wearing Doc Marten 10 hole boots since I was 11.) When I began "hanging out" with people from time to time, I felt like I was just an intrusion. So I've been on my own a lot. But then, one day, I found this beautiful list. When I got your email that day, welcoming me, I honestly felt a sense of belonging for the very first time. What I want to say is, you are a truly good person. I will always remember that. Even though I do not know you personally, I hope that you will consider me as your friend. I myself am going through a trying time right now. Someone sent this quote to me, and it has brought me comfort. Now, I would like to share it with you.

"everything passes and everything remains."

I know that some days are darker than others. Believe me, i know. Another special person wrote to me, and I would also like to share his comforting words, that go something like this: "Someday, you will feel safe on earth again."

You will. Take care.

jill :)

Kent, You are such a wonderful person, you don't deserve to be sad. So turn that frown upside down! I really hope you feel happiness again soon. :)

Kent- I admire your spirit and your creative drive. When life offers us challenges that add a new dimension to our lives it is hard to see all of the "good" in our lives. You touch me, as well as many others on the list. 'Stay Gold' Kent <And you're the only person I've ever said that to>. I'll always be here if you need me.

Hi Kent! : ) I hope you don't mind that I did this, I hope you liked it, and I really hope you feel better soon! Remember, you have been very sad before. And, one day, you came out of it. You will come out of this, too. One day, you will be laughing it up, so just keep that in mind! Take care.
