Located on
the outer edge of the Lincoln town square and
next door to the VFW building, the Lincoln Senior
Center is well positioned to participate in the
festivities of the Lincoln Apple Festival every
fall. During this weekend-long event, the Seniors
serve all-you-can-eat pancake breakfasts and hold
raffles to raise money. They also participate in
the Saturday morning parade. Last year,
the Center's float in the parade won first place.
That float featured the Senior Center Kitchen
Band: the Kuntry Kuzzins. This intrepid group of
entertainers are known throughout the area and
are often invited back for repeat appearances. In addition
to the band, the Center also has a group of
gospel music singers who travel to local
retirement homes throughout the area to entertain
monthly. The Lincoln
Seniors have a full plate of activities every week
and host dances at least twice a month. At present,
the Seniors are raising money to build an
addition to their building so they will have a
place to put exercise equipment.
