Fayetteville Senior Activity
Center
Fayetteville's senior
citizens currently gather at the Sang Avenue
Senior Center. This facility is located in a
residential area near the University of Arkansas
campus.
In
addition to serving as Fayetteville's senior
center, Sang Ave. also houses the Council on
Aging's central kitchen. Meals for 500 to 600
people a day are prepared at this location and
either served on site or shipped throughout the
county to the other senior centers and to the
homebound.
Activities at the
Sang Ave. center are varied: ceramics, painting,
quilting, shooting pool , exercises, BINGO,
puzzles, and crafts -- just to name a few. The
seniors also go out to eat at local restauraunts
twice each month: one breakfast and one dinner.
They also "road trip" to local
attractions and events.
Special Services
The
health care needs of the seniors are addressed
during blood pressure checks, twice yearly eye
screenings, and yearly trips to the local health
department for flu shots. Speakers about health
care issues also make stops by the center.
